Part D:
Awards on Death - Children

Part D deals with the awards which may be payable to the child of a regular firefighter –

subject to the limitations in Rule D5

Rule D6 explains that if a pension sharing order has been issued by a court on divorce, dissolution of civil partnership, or annulment, children’s benefits are not affected by any reduction in the firefighter’s benefits.

Calculation of the awards is mainly covered in the relevant part of Schedule 4, but Schedule 11 Part II may apply to certain cases involving service before 1 April 1972.

Additional provisions in respect of children’s awards are given in Part E.

Rule D2 (special allowance) and Rule D3 (special gratuity) were deleted with effect from 1 April 2006 and the provisions transferred to the Firefighters' Compensation Scheme.
